How to Add Contractors to 1099Policy

Add contractors manually to 1099Policy

There are multiple methods for uploading new contractors to 1099Policy, including:

  1. Add contractors manually (either individually or via a bulk .csv upload);
  2. Integrate 1099Policy with a third party platform (e.g. Worksuite, CreatorIQ)

This article outlines the ways in which you can add contractors manually to 1099Policy, either by (A) adding an individual directly to the platform or (B) bulk uploading contractor data using a .csv file.

Option A: Add a single contractor to 1099Policy

This option is best suited for individual contractors or small batches of new contractors, in which you'd prefer not to edit a spreadsheet outside the 1099Policy dashboard.

  1. Log into your 1099Policy account;
  2. Select 'Contractors' from the left menu bar;
  3. Click the 'Add Contractor' button, located at the top right of the page;
  4. Select 'Single Contractor Upload'
  5. Enter the required information for the contractor and assignment, as outlined in form in 1099Policy;
  6. Click 'Add Contractor'

Option B: Bulk upload multiple contractors

This option is best suited for uploading multiple contractors simultaneously. It requires minimal technology knowledge, but you must be able to edit a spreadsheet and save it as a .csv file.

  1. Log into your 1099Policy account;
  2. Select 'Contractors' from the left menu bar;
  3. Click the 'Add Contractor' button, located at the top right of the page;
  4. Select 'Bulk Upload'
  5. Open the bulk import template and make a copy to edit. Note that Row 1 of the spreadsheet is prepopulated with sample data;
  6. Once all required information is entered, download the file as a .csv (File > Download > Comma Separated Values);
  7. Return to your 1099Policy dashboard, which should still be open to the 'Bulk Import Contractors' page;
  8. Click the 'Browse and Upload' button and select the file you've just edited for upload
Required Fields

We’ve added data validation directly into the Google Sheet to make it easier to spot missing information. The table below details all of the fields, whether it’s required or optional, and a description of the field (where necessary)

Troubleshooting

As noted, the Google Sheet includes fairly comprehensive data validation to ensure field values you enter don’t result in an error when you upload. That said, we’ve seen file uploads fail for various reasons, including:
